New Snow!
Well, there is no question now, it is winter. Snow is falling, it has laid down an inch in the last hour and it is still coming down. Just perfect for a white Christmas here at the lodge.
The wildlife report for the day: 13 turkeys were spotted crossing the road just west of Twin Lakes yesterday as we were headed up to the lodge. I always love seeing them because in our part of the country they are quite reclusive. I think I've only see turkeys around the lodge 3 times in all the years we have been here.
We still have some openings for the Holidays, check our website and make plans now to come up and enjoy the mountains this Christmas or New Years.

Hydro Electric News
We have been working on installing a hydro electric generator here at the lodge for quite awhile. The dream has been there since we purchased the property back in 1993 but this year we finally got all the pieces moved into the proper places and in May we started installation. In the process we had to send parts back for repair which took forever but today we successfully generated some power. Once the power company comes up and inspects next week we will be officially underway. Wheeee!

Update on our little corner of the world.
Scott says we have about 5" of new snow at the lodge so it is looking like winter but even more interesting is the Colorado Department of Transportation's announcement that Independence Pass is closed for the season. That means it is time for us to print out a bunch of our Aspen maps showing how to get from Twin Lakes to Aspen in the winter. We must give out at least 200 of them over the course of each winter.
This also means it is time to start getting the winter gear ready and time to plan your winter excursions to the mountains.
See you soon.
